What players should know
AQtion keeps the quick rounds and dramatic firefights of Action Quake 2 alive. Pick a weapon and a map, then use movement, cover, and precise shots to help your team. It is a multiplayer-first game built on the Quake II lineage, not a download for the commercial Quake II campaign. Can you install it without Steam? Yes. The linked 1.3.8 Windows ZIP is the complete standalone release from the AQtion distribution team. Extract it and run q2pro.exe. Public servers and the community Discord are managed by the original project. The cover and screenshots come from the team's own itch.io page. The video is an AQ2World promotional gameplay piece. Some community-made maps and media carry individual credits; see the repository before reusing them. License and credits AQtion's distribution repository identifies GPLv2 code and credits community-created content. Maps, textures, models, sounds, and other assets may have individual terms. NeonRoof links the developer's unchanged Windows package and credits the original itch.io artwork; this listing is not an assertion that every asset is GPL. Downloads come directly from the original project. NeonRoof does not host or repackage the game files. Independent catalog listing. NeonRoof is not affiliated with or endorsed by this project's developers. Downloads are provided by the project's official distribution source.
