About 7-Zip

7-Zip is a free, open-source file archiver created by Igor Pavlov. It is best known for the 7z format and its strong compression, while also supporting familiar formats such as ZIP, TAR, GZIP, BZIP2, and many others for packing or extraction.

The Windows application includes a file manager, command-line tools, AES-256 encryption for 7z and ZIP archives, self-extracting archive support, and shell integration. It is useful for everyday file sharing, software packaging, backups, and inspecting downloaded archives.
