About Audacity

Audacity is a free, open-source audio editor and recorder originally created by Dominic Mazzoni and Roger Dannenberg and now maintained by the Audacity Team and contributors. It presents recordings and imported audio as editable tracks with precise waveform and spectral tools.

Users can record from available devices, cut and arrange clips, reduce noise, apply effects, analyze frequencies, work with common plugin formats, and export finished audio. Audacity 4 introduces a rebuilt Qt interface and a new project format while preserving the ability to open Audacity 3 projects.

NeonRoof credits both the original creators and current project. Its neutral artwork avoids implying affiliation, and no binary becomes downloadable until the exact official package passes NeonRoof release review.
