About Ren'Py

Ren'Py is a free engine for visual novels and other story-driven games. Writers and developers can combine dialogue, choices, images, music, transitions, and branching logic in a readable script format, then reach deeper systems through Python when a project needs custom behavior.

The SDK includes a project launcher, tutorial, example game, interactive director, translation tools, accessibility support, and packaging workflows for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and web targets. It works well for solo creators, narrative teams, game jams, and commercial releases.

Most Ren'Py code uses the MIT license, while included libraries use several compatible licenses, including the LGPL. NeonRoof links to the official SDK and full dependency license list so developers can review the terms that apply to their release.
