1. Check the base game
A free mod usually extends a game you already own. Minecraft listings here are for Java Edition, not Bedrock or the Android edition.
2. Match the loader
Fabric, NeoForge, Forge, SKSE, SMAPI, tModLoader, and Doom source ports serve different games. Use the requirements on each listing and the creator's current guide.
3. Protect your save
